Thank you my friends.....

Hello everyone.Firstly today I want to say thank you for all the support and tips on what to give mt to eat. Mum and dad are grateful for all this. To give me my medication I have to eat something so its not on an empty stomach as it would upset me. Last night I ate a small amount and a little cheese so got the first dose. Today I have eaten nothing at all. Dad has sat with food on his fingers, has chopped favourites really small and tried everything possible. I have not even smelled the food. I am very lethargic and didn't even want to go in my yard with dad. I cant tell you how worried mum and dad are. Although it doesn't show on pictures so much because of my fluff I am very thin with no fat at all. Mum and dad said if only we knew what was the problem we could fight it. One thing we are going to try after several friends suggested it is baby food.

I came out for a while and sat on dad as he worked on his laptop, but only for a short while. I then went and sat on mum's legs but again for a short while. I have spent most of the day sleeping which maybe is a good thing.

Thank you everyone and please keep those purrs coming as I am sure they will help.. Hugs GJ xx

Oh, GJ...this makes our mom's heart hurt...We all really want you to be well, to have a real diagnosis you can treat. Has the vet suggested an appetite stimulant to kick-start your eating?

All our Light and Love, continued purrs to you all.

Oh, GJ, we are worried about you. Please try to eat something so you can get your medicine in you. Have you tried having your food warmed just a bit? Maybe even warm the baby food, but maybe just try the meats without the veggies. We all have our paws crossed for you, pal.

GJ, I don't mean to make your mom worry but have them checked your liver? This happened to my kitty brother Smokey several years ago he was fine and then just all of a sudden stopped eating. He had some problems with his liver. We were able to get him to eat some grilled chicken and stuff but he ended up having to have a tube put in his tummy so we could feed him through that. I sure do hope that you just have a small bug or something and nothing more serious. Our vet also suggested baby food because it is nice and smelly. I hope you eat soon GJ. Our thoughts are with your mom and dad I know they must be awful worried about you.

Our mum use to feed two of our sisters-who-came-before-us baby food and they loved it. Only Mum had to "force" feed them. She sucked up some baby food into a dropper and slowly fed it to them while she cradled them like a baby. Perhaps this would work for you GJ? It's also a good way to give water too. We are worried too so please try to get your appetite back, okay? (((HUGS)))

This can't be happening, sweet Ginger Jasper. We continue to pray very hard that you begin to eat and respond to your medicine. It must be so horrible for you to feel so sick. Since your case is baffling you regular vet, is there a specialist you can see before you get any more sick? It will be easier on you and your parents if you are able to be diagnosed and the proper treatments started. Is there any way that you could have cntractedFIV? Our brother had sx of lethargy, weight loss, anorexia. He also had numerous oral lesions. He had been tested for FIV in the shelter and also upon adoption by mum. When he fell ill (and also had labs that didn't look bad ) the vet couldn't figure out what was wrong. Mum read about sx of FIV on the net and begged the vet to retest him. The vet couldn't believe it when he came up FIV+. On the proper mess, he lead a long life. We don't know if you have ever been bitten by an infected cat but it may be something to think of if all else fails. We couldn't love you more if you were our own. God bless you.

Oh GJ we are so behind and are so so sad to read how sick you have been. We are sending you tons of purrs and prayers. We wish we had good suggestions - have you tried any baby food - mom hasn't checked anyone elses ideas but she has been known to try that when one of us won't eat. We think it does help a bit to get us eating (it is super stinky so it is tough to resist). We hope that medication works for you - we know that if you stop eating sometimes it is hard to get back into eating again so you have to take it kind of slow, and if your gums are irritated that makes it hard. Kirzon has that and he has stopped eating from it before and they have given him antibiotics to help them and he would start to eat again - maybe that is something your vet could try - and maybe if you could get it compounded into an ear gel that would help too because then it doesn't upset your stomach and you don't need to take it with food (and then you can feel better and actually want to eat again). Oh GJ we are purring and praying so hard for you to want to start eating again!

The Lee County Clowder said...

Sometimes we will eat better if you mix a little warm water into the food. Not sure if it smells more or is easier to eat (or maybe both), but it might be worth a try.

If there is a compounding pharmacy around, maybe you could get the medication prepared so you could schmear it on GJ's ears, and get it absorbed that way.

one time when my Angel Bobo wouldn't eat the vet suggested that we give him tuna WATER...not the tuna but the tuna WATER....I think it has nutrients that he said were better than not eating at all.
The baby food that others suggested IS a good idea.
I pray that they are able to find out what the problem is so that you may be helped xoxo

Oh my goodness! You must eat right away! What about tuna joose? What about rotisserie chicken? What about real live dead shrimp? Yes, baby food will be good. Oh GJ! We hope the baby food works to help your appetite back! Mommy had a cat with lipidosis because she stopped eating from stress and it seemed if Mommy forced a bit of food in her mouth, she'd get hungry after she tasted it and gobble the rest up on her own. We don't know if that would help, but we just want you to eat, GJ! Your vet will know best though. Big purrs for you.
