Update ........

Hello everyone.. Well here is my news. Firstly when I had been at the vet for just a couple hours, mum got a phone call from the vet nurse and her heart missed a beat as she thought something had happened. When I went in mum explained that I had some knots because when I was ill a few weeks ago I would not let mum or dad brush or comb me at all. I seemed to have got more knotty than usual and quicker because I had been for my yearly cut in May. Mum said to the nurse she could snip the knots if possible. Well when the nurse rang mum, she said that I was still asleep and that my knots were bad and needed to be all cut out but would look bad if left patchy and would mum give permission to do a lion cut while I was still asleep. As I usually have a similar cut mum said to go ahead. Well when mum and dad went to pick me up what a surprise. I am cut right down to skin with my lion legs head and tail. I have never ever been this short before. Oh my god. They said because I am an indoor cat I would be OK. It was a shock I can tell you.

Now for the rest. I had to have five teeth out and stitches. The vet said I had sore gums and little holes in my gums which would have been letting pain down to my teeth. One of the teeth taken out was a canine tooth. The vet said my teeth could have been the reason I have been unwell recently and I should start feeling a lot better soon. Yesterday I didn't eat very much at all and of course had to starve from last night. I amazed mum and dad when we got back because I asked for food and ate a full sachet of stinky goodness and after having five teeth out and stitches in my mouth that is some feat. I had been give a pain killing injection though. I have to take pain meds and antibiotics for the next week and go back on Saturday for a check.

Ever since I got back I have been sat bolt upright against the radiator, just staring at mum. Mum took a picture but is not putting it on just yet because oh my gosh..

This is where I have been lying for last couple days right under mum's feet she had to be careful not to tread on me... Now I wont come near her....
Thank you to all my friends for caring.. Love to all GJ xxx

We think that is really good news, because it sounds like you are on the road to recovery with your bad toofies out!
Can't wait to see your TIGER cut!!

Lots of purrs to you, GJ! You should heal quickly, actually. Derry had 9 teeth out in June, Annie 3 last Feb. and Nicki 8 in November 2009. They all recovered quickly and none was off their food, though they did have to eat only canned for a week, to let their gums heal.

We're sure you'll feel ever so much better....Nicki had two deep pockets of infection too, and needed a month of antibiotics, so he must have been in great pain.

Once you've recovered you won't even miss those teeth!

*Kitty kisses*!

Well, that sounds like it was an especially unpleasant vet trip! But it sounds to me like you will be much, much better for it in the long run. I am sending you lots of purrs so the work on your mouth heals quickly!

Oh my...how traumatic sounding! You'll be feeling better before you know it GJ. And don't worry...furs will grow. Maybe you can wear a Christmas sweater now :)

Well done GJ - you hero! We really hope your mouth is better and you feel so much happier. The lion cut must be a shock - we know how Ruska felt when he had his. But better that than nasty knots and the Diabolical Comb.

We hope that the painkiller lasts a long long time :)

We're SO happy you're okay!!

Oh, GJ, I understand how you feel. I had a really close lion's cut when I first arrived at this house, and it is hard to get used to. The thing is, we know how handsome you are so none of your friends will laugh

GJ, I'm glad you made it thru your toothy surgery okay, although the haircut thing kinda sucks. I get mats now and then, and I hate it when Momma combs them out too! I could only eat stinky goodness after my toothy surgery for a while (which was pawsome!) but was back on the crunchies in no time at all.
Purrs and headbutts,

Hi GJ - we are so glad your surgery is done and you are home! We are sorry you had to get such a short lion cut and that they took 5 of your teeth, but we think it sounds like you will be feeling a lot better now, and that is good. Plus you won't have to worry about getting any knots for a while at least! We can understand why you are a bit standoffish now - we get that way after vet trips like that too. We hope you stay warm with your lion cut - we do hope we get to see a picture of you because we know you look cute - we can just picture it!

We will be praying for you to have a full recovery and send you lots of purrs, howls and hugs. Lots of love, Holly and mom

Poor GJ! Don't they know that a lion needs his coat in winter even if he stays inside???

Well, on the pawsitive side, you are feeling better, and it seems the problem is solved with the tooth extractions. I've heard that kitties get along fine even without any teeth, but you've still got lots left.

You'll be right as rain for Christmas. Wa-hoo!

Oh, I'm very much sorry for all of your woes. But I bet your haircut is Most Handsome. I mean, how could it NOT be? You're THE GJ, after all.

And abouts those teeth...my Brudder Cap'n Ripley had to have 6 teeth out at one time when he was only abouts 3 years old (the V.E.T. said he got bad genes) and he can still eat...a LOT! I mean, have you seen a picture of him? That is NOT a small boy. Nope. Anyway, I hopes you get feeling better soon and I hopes you will post pictures of your fancy new 'do soon, too!

We are glad everything went well and hope your mouth soon heals. When I had several teeth out a couple of years ago, mum couldn't believe how much livelier and playful I was.

Oh my poor GJ. You've really had a rough day. I made my mom get on the computer as soon as she got home to check on you. Hopefully, once you recuperate from the surgery, you'll feel a lot better. Your mom may need to buy you a sweater for that cold winter you have there.

I have an idea - why don't you just fly South and visit me for the winter!

GJ, we're glad your dental is over, but we're sorry they took your teefs. You'll be okay, though, you probably won't miss them at all and you'll feel much better now!

OH DEAR, GJ! We are very glad that your dental issues have been taken care and you are feeling hungry. As for the lion cut, well, it's clearly not the optimum time of year for it. You will just have to ask your Mum or a fur coat!!!!

Mr. Bufus got a lion cut every spring (he tended to get pretty matted as he didn't like to be brushed), and frankly, we thought he looked Very Handsome, so I find it hard to believe that you aren't equally so! We'd love to see pictures - he was very sleek looking (for a big boned boy).

Speaking of Mr. Bufus, he had bad teeth (no idea why - he was a rescue kitty and we didn't know his background), and ultimately had all of his teeth removed. (Yes, ALL of them.) Amazingly, it didn't slow him down. Not in the slightest; he ate dry food, wet food, and occasional nibbles from Dad's plate. So while we are sorry you are uncomfortable now, we are certain you'll be feeling MUCH better soon. Take care!

Well we are very relieved to hear yoo are ok and are sending more healing purrs.
It does seem a bit of a cold time of year to have a short furs cut. Maybe yoor mom should knit yoo a body tube to keep yo warm ~ 'cos even wiv heating on, it can be cold indoors. Plus a body tube would be cosy and fashionable! Yoo might start a noo trend.

Purrs.

We don't blame you we wouldn't go near her either (shuddering) a lion cut in WINTER, what was she thinking.

Glad the ouchy teeth are out and you are eating. We thinks you can probably get some extra good treats out of being miffed about the lion cut.

GJ what a day you had - a double whammy - teeth stolen and also your furs all stolen too - when there's snow on the ground too.
We think you need to keep the back of disrespect going for months - or at least until Christmas Eve.
We hope your got a floofy sweater on your Christmas wish list.

Oh, sweetheart! We are so happy and relieved you have come through your surgery! That anesthesia part always worries us. Glad to hear you are at home where your wonderful mum and dad can cuddle and care for you. Now that the bad teeth are going we are sure your mouth and jaw will feel much better.

We are sorry to hear you got your lion cut a bit early. We adopted Cubby a few months ago shaved to the skin. He was wearing a little fleece lined dog coat (no sleeves) at his shelter. Very soft and warm. Maybe this might help.

We will continue to pray and purr for you until you are fully healed. We love you so!

Oh GJ, you poor poor thing! We are sorry we are so late reading your post - what a time you have had.
That sounds like a lot of teeth to have out but we are sure you will manage fine - just ask for a straw!
As for your fur, it is pretty cold out there right now so just you make sure you stay right there beside the fire.
Perhaps you could wear a jumper if it gets chilly.
The main thing is that you have been able to eat and will soon feel lots better.
We reckon you should be OK by the time the turkey arrives.
Much love
