Water Water Everywhere...

We have been very lucky where we are, the heavy rain has caused floods everywhere. York which is very close to us has not been so lucky. Today this is what it looks like, and this is after a couple of days of receding.

Mum and dad usually walk through this park after parking the car.. Not today, the park is completely under water...
More park shots...

They also walk down here from the bridge,,,
These poor buildings suffered terrible....
I don't think this pub will be open for business..

The arches you can just see, are the car parks under these apartments...
There are usually lots sat outside these pubs, eating meals and drinking. Mum and dad walk by and go up the stairs to the shops. Today the steps just are not there..
See how high to the bridge..
This should be a park too..
Should be streets...
Scary living here..

You have to really feel for the people living and working here.. It happens more than once a year as well.. So awful.

I am just glad I am safe and dry..

Stay safe, warm and dry everyone.. Hugs GJ xx

All the floods everywhere are awful. We live on the outskirts of a village and that got flooded, but not as bad as York. We are lucky because we live on the top of a hill but our garden still got flooded. It was a nice day yesterday, but cold. Today it is pouring down again.
We got your Christmas card today thank you. It is lovely.

Oh how horrible! We feel very bad for the people and animals living there!
One of our mom's greatest fears is flooding, just like that. These pictures made her shudder!

Oh, that is just awful AND scary. We hope things dry up quickly.

We were thrilled to get our mail today - both beautiful cards arrived. Your Mum is too organized. We still don't even have a pic taken. We may end up with none.

Hope Mum is doing well - and Dad too.

So sad of all the flooding over there. Mom heard it on the news. Doggone if it wasn't for all the water, Mom enjoyed seeing all the pictures and buildings. I bet the park is really pretty without all that water. Mom has seen our river overflowing into the park that is a ways down from us before we moved here quite a few years back. She is hoping it doesn't happen again though. So thankful it isn't affecting you and you are cozy and warm inside. Purrs and prayers for all the beans affected.

Happy Belated Birthday to your Dad. Loved the cakes your Mum got your Dad. They looked yum.

I didn't realize there had been so much rain and flooding over there. Mom's been really slack with watching the news and visiting, so I'm really behind. So glad you are safe!

It's terrible ! I saw it on TV ! It happens so often lately, last year too ! On a blog when you know somebody it's even worse because it becomes more personal and your mom saw it with her eyes. Fortunately you are safe and dry. I just imagine my house in deep water ! I don't think it could happen because we are living on a little hill. But one never knows !

OMC! We feel shocked. We had no idea that your neck of the woods was getting it so badly! That's an awful lot of damage ~ espeshully to those beautiful old buildings. Sidmouth has had lots of rain but no floods. But sometimes the waves of the sea are HUGE! (Taller than a howse!)

We're glad yoo are warm and dry.

And we LOVE yoor noo header! It's gorjuss!

Frightening!
Glad your home is warm and dry.

Oh dear, oh dear. Flooding is awful (being Dutch) we know. Parliament holds special sessions demanding action when more than twenty people get their ankles wet after heavy rains over here.
Although it did made us think of Venice. If York is flooded that often, they should change their streets in canals. That would be great in summer.

This is terrible, those poor folks that live in the places that are not filled up with water. What a mess. I hope their families are safe. The news over here hasn't told us about this flooding. We did see Venice four feet above the water mark. Pray that the families can get back to their homes soon and things can return to normal. Terrible. Hope you and your family is far, far, far away from the high waters.

This is horrible for the people. Some years ago Germany had a horrible flood too. The most important part is that noone drowns!

We're very lucky that we didn't flood. Living in Maidenhead by the River Thames,it's a real threat. Thank goodness they built the flood relief channel.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those who are suffing in the recent floods!
