Vet report....

Hello everyone, here is the latest from the vet.. Not a lot of news. I have seen two different vets and mum has spoken to two others today. All are agreed that they wont prescribe steroids until the blood results are in and they are not back yet. they say that if the results show positive then the steroids could cause more harm. The vet nurse has been trying to chase them up for mum today but so far no luck. They did say to go in and get a food that watered down and syringed. Mum is holding off on that until tomorrow because they said the stress could also have an adverse effect. One light in the tunnel is that dad managed to get me to eat a little and I drank some cat milk last night and today so I got something inside me.We have to trust the vets and are so hoping that the trust is justified. By hook or by crook tomorrow we will either know whats wrong or I will start on steroids. Thank you all so much for your concerns as it is keeping us going.. Love to all GJ xx

GJ, we're holding our collective breaths for you, and purring and purraying so hard that you will be well. We're glad you ate a bit. It's beyond awful when you don't have a definitive diagnosis and are just taking stabs in the dark at treatment, so we hope for something concrete and easily treatable.

Big kitty kisses to you and mom is sending hugs to your mum and dad!

Paws crossed for those reports to show up soon, like right now, GJ. We don't know a lot about all those steroids, but we know they should be taken with care. So Mum and Dad are wise to wait for the vets to determine what is best. We are sure they are getting the very best care and opinions for you. Can you please try to eat and drink a bit more?

We are purring for good results, GJ! Samson is on a low-dose of steroids for his allergies and always seems hungrier. Our vet said it shouldn't make too much of a difference in his eating habits, but we imagine it would be different if it's a higher dose. Keep up the eating, GJ! We love you!

Oh GJ we wish you would start eating. We have not visted much but have been so hoping we would come back with news you were eating like crazy. But even a bit is better than nothing. And it just stinks that you still aren't sure what is up. We keep thinking that you aren't the first of our blog friends to go through this kind of thing, and we hoped the outcome would be like so many of theirs, that you just got better on your own and were eating. We know that if your mom has to resort to syringing it will be tough, but maybe if she has to it will help you get more into the idea of eating on your own, like kickstarting your appetite. No matter what happens we are sending you and your mom and dad tons of purrs and prayers, both for you to get better and for them to have a bit of comfort.

WEll darn, I was hoping for some good news, but I guess it is good news that you ate a little bit GJ. I check all the time to see if there are any results. Mom and Dad must be beside themselves with worry. Just know GJ that tons of people and cats love you so much and are routing for you to get better. We are sending tons more purrs and some good prayers. We still have our paws crossed and it really makes it hard to walk around with the paws crossed but we are doing it so you will get better. Take care. Big hugs to Mom and Dad.

Oh dearest Jasper! Where are those labs!! It is horrible that they are not back yet. Your vet says that you shouldn't start steroids because if the labs come back positive they will do harm. What is it that they are testing you for?
Before you start any steroid, you need have an OK from your vet. Maybe he will let you go on for just a few days to perk up your appetite. But you shouldn't start them unless the doc says ok. How about the appetite stimulant? What do they say about that? We are so sorry for all of the questions but we are so distraught that you are still waiting for your labs and not eating.
We love you so much, dear. Tell your wonderful dad to keep up the good work feeding you. You and your mum and dad are in our hearts and in our prayers.

Kari said...

P.S. Have you asked for a vitamin B12 shot? Lots of vets think they are very old fashioned but they have worked for us in the past. How about a possible tube feeding for you. The kind where they pass the tube, feed you and then remove the tube?

I'm praying for good news for you. Thanks for the update. I know your vet is very right to not start steroids until they are such it's not an infection. We don't want you getting any sicker. Thank goodness you are still eating, even if it is just a little. xoxoxo

Oh, GJ...waiting when you are sick is hard for both humans and cats, alike! Kari mentioned B12 injections and if a kitty has IBD then they become low in B12 cobalamine/folate and the the injections help bring that level back up which helps appetite and digestion (that's an oversimplification but sort of in a nutshell...)

O poor GJ! This is just taking so long to get you some help! Did they ever give you a laxative for all that poo that had built up inside you?

I know if you're constipated, you're not going to feel like doing anything.

I hope the answer is something simple, and that they find it fast.

Me and the 3-Ds love you GJ, and we purr for your every day.
