Remembrance.......

When mum was doing my post for LiveStrong she thought long and hard whether to include her nephew because mums brother is a Private person and she didn't know if to put on my blog or not. After thinking about it all night ( night shift ) mum decided she could not do a in memory without a mention so here it is.

Quite a lot of years ago mum's brother had a son called Steven, he was a very loving child and always had a smile. Steven suffered a lot of throat infections like tonsillitis. The doctors decided to take Steven in hospital for his tonsils out. A very routine operation. It was just a few days before Steven's 5th birthday. Steven hemorrhaged and died. The postmortem revealed Leukemia. This was never known before. As quick as that it took Steven.. We want to say we will always remember and we hope in the future years they could know this and save lives..

We wanted to say that we thank everyone involved in yesterday's LIVESTRONG day. Wow what a lot got involved. We were not surprised though because ever since we got involved with our extended "blog family " we have been amazed at how we all pull together when needed. This was another example of the power of the paws..

Sending love and power of the paws to our friend Ann and her hubby Vic. To Jan that the results are good and to each and every one of our friends in whatever their fight is.

Now.. mum is shattered and on nights again so we probably wont get to you tonight.. Goodnight all With love GJ xx

Such a sad story about Steven. I, too, did not include my nephew. He was 29 and the father of two boys. He had been going to the local hospital in pain for months and they labeled him as a drug seeker and since he was unemployed and considered a charity case, They did not do much to diagnosed him. When he collapsed and was taken to the hospital a Doctor ordered tests and found a mass that was so large it wrapped around all his internal organs. He fought a long hard battle but lost it three years ago.

We are glad you were able to share the story of your nephew. How very sad that must have been for all of your family. It is always sad to lose a loved one, but even more so when it is such a young child.

We too were not surprised to see the outpouring support for the day, but very happy that it was that way.

That was very sad to hear about Steven. It is terrible to lose a loved one but more so when they are so young and should have their whole life ahead of them.

It sounds like the night shift is hard on your human, GJ! That was a sad story about Steven - that should never have to happen to a child. Maybe one day that never will become a reality.

Whoa. You've just shared one more reason that we must all LiveStrong and keep working toward a Cure. And not just a Cure ... but better understanding and prevention and early treatment. How very sad about your nephew. It hurts so much to lose a child ...

Love your LiveStrong post Ginger. Really liked your pictures. I was proud of Mom, she didn't forget to wear yellow yesterday. So sad about Steve. Mom had a friend where she volunteers at the library who got lung cancer and she went fast. She never smoked or anything to get lung cancer. Sure doesn't care who it attacks. Cancer stinks!! Way to much of it. Hope and pray for a cure in the near future.

We're so sorry about Steven. That had to be a very hard time for your mom and her family. He was far too young. LiveStrong Day had a special meaning to you.

A beautiful and loving remembrance for a lovely little boy taken before his time.
As a previous visitor said, those who are remembered never really die. They reside in the hearts of all who love them.

We are so sorry that younf Steven lost his life. We can't imagine the pain his loss caused the family ~ and probably still does. But it is good to remember those who have gone. "To live in the hearts of those you love, is not to die".

And yes ~ the blogging world is amazing.

Greetings GJ,

We applaud your mum because her words telling us of the loss of Steven at such an early age, also reminds us that we need to cherish and seize the moment to show our love for those I our lives.

Dad has suffered a string of health problems these last six years, now appreciates that which was before taken for granted.

We wish you all the very best to the start of a new week,
Miss Kitty and Egmont
