Mum and dad's pics, another stately home !!!!!!!

Tuesday 02/06.09

On Saturday, mum and dad went to a local stately home and bird sanctuary,Lotherton Hall. the weather was beautiful and it was so nice to walk around the grounds. They have beautiful gardens and grounds. There is also a deer park, the deers were all hiding somewhere and mum and dad did not get to see them this time.

They have built an into Africa enclosure, you can walk round with all the birds walking and flying free.

Mum and dad did not go into the house today as it was too nice a day to be indoors, they will do that another time.
The owners of old loved their dogs and took them abroad and everywhere they went, There is a pet cemetary with all the pets names on.
On the way back to the car dad spotted the stragest tree, it looked like a giant King Kong about to squash the chapel. Check out the pictures. The moon was also shining through the sunshine, which added to the picture.

After all the walking around, mum and dad went back to the car which was parked right in the grounds and sat in the fold up chairs for a couple of hours to chill out. With an ice cream to cool down of course.
Hope you like the pictures, more of me tomorrow.

Hugs GJ xx

Wow! That is a magnificent estate! Black swans are very beautiful! There was a lake in the city we used to live in that was a sanctuary to several different kinds of swans. Mom use to love walking that lake.

You have so much lovely places in England. I never was there but our son was two years before in Bournemouth and last year in London. I think I must go too soon ;o)

What an interesting tree!! The gardens were so lovely, makes Mom think of the mansions in Newport, R.I. We especially enjoyed reading the epitaphs on the pet cemetery stones.

Can't wait to see GJ tomorrow.

Thank you for sharing this with me -- I enjoyed the pictures! I think I would love to visit it! I googled the Hall and saw that it was part of the Leeds Museum collections, so very interesting. The family I study had ties in Yorkshire, in Allerthorpe and Horton. Mount Morris at Horton was torn down, I think, in the 19th century, but the 18th century drawing of it shows spectacular formal gardens. The house was very fine, too.
I really like your blog and it looks like we have lots of friends in common!
